ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 is a digital platform that helps eye care professionals (ECPs) oversee the consultation process while offering a great consumer experience. It allows them to manage patient data and ZEISS instruments (e.g. for refraction and centration), meaning they have everything they need under one roof to offer the best lens solution to meet individual consumer needs. Orders are forwarded directly from the system to ZEISS VISUSTORE. ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 supports the main PMS (patient management systems) via an interface.


How does ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 work?

ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 is an application for eye care professionals that can be used on both a desktop computer and an iPad. ZEISS devices and instruments are managed by ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 and the data is transferred directly to a local server and to the consumer’s profile in real time, e.g. centration data from ZEISS VISUFIT 1000.

During the development of VISUCONSULT 500, intuitive operation was a key consideration; however, training can still be provided for any ECPs who would prefer this. A server is needed to store all patient data and run the latest version of ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 to enable eye care professionals to access new feature releases regularly.


What is the greatest benefit for eye care professionals?

ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 offers a host of benefits. Data (e.g. from centration or refraction) and other information about the consumer no longer needs to be entered manually; this prevents errors and saves time – time that can now be dedicated to the consultation process. Eye care professionals no longer have to choose/switch between different systems, which eliminates a frequent source of error. From consultations to entering individual consumer data and ordering eyeglass lenses, ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 is a tool that can be used every step of the way.

In addition to eliminating data transfer errors, connectivity issues and saving time, ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 is very easy to use. As a result, the software helps ECPs create a professional and trustworthy atmosphere in which they can fully focus on the consumer. ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 shows consumers that digitalization is an integral part of the eye care professional’s work. How does all of this benefit consumers?

ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 helps eye care professionals create a new kind of consultation for consumers. It enables them to immediately experience different eyeglass lens properties through virtual reality with the “lens demonstrator.” It also permits comparisons between different frames on an iPad, where photos can help (especially highly myopic) consumers make purchasing decisions (ZEISS VISUFIT 1000 is required). Furthermore, consumers can bring in their own ZEISS My Vision Profile and use its data for the next stage of the process.

VISUCONSULT 500 also reduces consumer stress during refraction, giving them more personal space thanks to remote operation via an iPad. This means decisions involve fewer steps and reduce the time spent on refraction units. The consumer experience thus becomes more pleasant. What’s more, their personal information and data are stored by the ECP, who can then track the development of their customer’s eyes.

Will ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 replace other systems?

Yes, ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 will replace applications like ZEISS i.Com mobile and ZEISS i.Com. These systems will continue to be supported (in terms of service) for approx. five more years. But ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 will be the only solution for all new device installations.

Can other systems still be used to manage instruments?

Other systems may continue being used by eye care professionals who already work with them – support services will continue to be offered for them in the near future. However, only ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 will support existing and all upcoming ZEISS devices with their new features.

Where and when can I purchase ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500?

ZEISS VISUCONSULT 500 was released in August 2018 in selected countries. It will now be rolled out globally.
